In releasing its latest rankings on best high schools in the US, the website put Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria at No. 1.
The STEM school beat out 17,843 nationally-ranked schools and 323 schools ranked in Virginia, according to US News.
Minorities comprise 81.7% of the school's enrollment, and had a 100% rate of test proficiency in math, reading and science among students, US News says. Students also had a 100% rate of college readiness and perfect graduation rate.
According to US News, approximately 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
